Full of power the first CJBb Pro concert started at 19:00 led by Pablo Mazuecos. A huge applause welcomed all sixteen musicians at the stage. After an emotive Pablo´s initial speech the musicians played for more than one hour. That day the restrictions weren’t that strict yet, so we were lucky that we could still leave the doors open for the public. The guests were amazed, and so were we, the whole Clasijazz Team. The concert was also transmitted online. It was successful, no doubt! After the concert, the musicians enjoyed dinner and drinks prepared by Cafeteria Clasijazz and relaxed all together proud of their remarkable performance.
The repertoire was dedicated to great female composers and musicians in Jazz. Starting with the pianist and composer Mary Lou Williams, continuing with great Toshiko Akiyoshi, Christine Jensen and Miho Hazama, who should be visiting Clasijazz this year in July and who is also the director of the DR Big Band. The program finished with the work of María Schneider.
