Faciti Rota is a Sicilian folk music ensemble from the Ragusa area of southeastern Sicily, Italy. Founded around 2011, the group is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the island’s rich musical heritage, combining traditional Sicilian folk songs and dances with musical traditions from southern Italy and the wider Mediterranean. The group’s name, Faciti Rota, means “Make a circle” in Sicilian dialect, reflecting its philosophy of bringing people together through music and dance. Its lively performances feature traditional acoustic instruments, including the marranzano (Sicilian Jew’s harp), the chitarra battente, mandolin, violin and tambourines, accompanied by energetic rhythms and traditional dances.Blending historical research, popular songs and engaging live performances, Faciti Rota creates an interactive musical experience in which audiences become part of the celebration. Since its early years, the ensemble has performed at numerous folk festivals and cultural events in Sicily and beyond, helping keep the island’s musical traditions alive for new generations.
Este concierto forma parte de la Conferencia Anual de la European Folk Network, que organizamos por primera vez este año. Si quieres conocer el programa completo y participar en las diferentes sesiones de la conferencia, puedes encontrar más información aquí e inscribirte aquí.
