Mixing music, gathering people
February 27, 28 and March 1 – Almería, Spain
Introduction
Clasijazz is finally organizing a major Gospel Festival: the Unity Clasijazz Gospel Festival.
The entire Clasijazz community is coming together for this event, with the help of the great Ramón Escalé, co-founder and director of various Gospel festivals such as Campus Gospel Rajadell, One Heart Festival, and Zuia Gospel Camp. With over 25 years of experience in Gospel through concerts, workshops, participation in European festivals, and more, he brings tremendous expertise to this initiative.
In addition to the two core elements of traditional Gospel gatherings—workshops and concerts—this new festival will offer a range of parallel activities that give it a unique identity. Though young and modest in scale, it aspires to join the ranks of Europe’s major Gospel festivals.
Inspired by the spirit established among European directors since 2019 and nurtured by the influence of Gospel legends such as Donald Lawrence, Bazil Meade, Didier Likeng, Trey McLaughlin, and others, Unity welcomes you with open arms on February 27, 28 and March 1 in Almería.
✨ Festival Spirit
UNITY joins the wave of European gatherings that, since 2019, have hosted Gospel figures like Donald Lawrence, Bazil Meade, Didier Likeng, and Trey McLaughlin.
Its aim is to create a space for learning, exchange, and celebration centered around Gospel music, through workshops, concerts, and complementary activities.
Core activities include:
- Concerts
- Workshops
- Gathering of choir directors
- Gospel Village
- Show Your Gospel
- Open Session
- After Concert Jam Sessions
- Open-to-All Sunday Service
- Collective Improvisation in a Church
As part of the festival, the first meeting and concert of the Unity Gospel Choir will take place, featuring singers from 12 European countries.
Workshops
The workshops will be led by major international Gospel figures:
Cinque Cullar & The Peace Troupe (USA)
Considered the natural successor to Gospel greats like Donald Lawrence, Cinque is a leading educator and promoter of contemporary Gospel.
Bazil Meade (UK)
Originally from the Caribbean and based in London, he is the founder of the legendary London Community Gospel Choir. His workshop focuses on groove, blending his Caribbean roots with funk energy.
Didier Likeng (Cameroon)
A key figure in Europe for the “Old Gospel School,” Didier bridges Gospel music with its African roots.
Ramón Escalé (Spain)
A pioneer of Gospel in Spain and founder of Messengers, Ramón has developed numerous educational projects and musical fusions with flamenco, Cuban music, and classical styles.
Concerts
The festival will feature four main concerts:
- Cinque Cullar & The Peace Troupe (USA)
- Mass Choir & Bazil Meade
- The Jungle Orquestra
- Unity Gospel Choir & Clasijazz Big Band with Didier Likeng and Ramón Escalé

One of the most moving moments of Unity. Led by Cinque Cullar & The Peace Troupe from Chicago, this event recreates the deep spiritual experience of traditional Sunday Church Services in African-American communities.
Open Stage – Show Your Gospel
A space for visiting choirs to share their music in small performances throughout various venues in the city.
Open Session
A welcome session on Thursday night where festival artists, choirs, and singers improvise together in a spontaneous and unique musical jam.

After Concerts
Late-night jam sessions between participating musicians and singers to keep the celebration going after the main concerts.

A guided experience led by a European improvisation expert where hundreds of voices unite in an emotional, shared musical journey.
